You have been asked to develop a new training programme. The question is – where do you start?
Successful training programmes begin with focused research. This workshop gives you the research skills to analyse knowledge and skill gaps in your company. It also helps you to figure out what you’re doing right, so that you can build upon best practices. You will learn how to gather the right information for developing learning material that works.
How will I learn?
This hands-on workshop begins with you and your business need. You will learn the theory of needs analysis and will apply it immediately.
You will work in teams to:
- Unpack the business need
- Identify knowledge and skills gaps
- Analyse the learning content

- Online workshop (3 days)
- Face-to-face in-house workshop ( 3days)
- One-on-one coached sessions (2 hour segments at times that suit you)

• Analyse a JSC into its steps
• Identify the KSAs of each step
• Identify the generic competencies
6 – Unpack the unit standard
• Describe a unit standard
• Conduct a preliminary analysis of the Unit Standard
• Simplify the assessment criteria
• Unpack the rage statements
• Identify the knowledge and skills components
• Review the critical cross-field outcomes
7 – Shape the Outcomes
• Distinguish between outcomes, specific outcomes and learning outcomes
• Write outcomes for training
8 – Bloom’s Taxonomy
• Explain the purpose of Bloom’s Taxonomy
